English must be really hard to learn as a second language - some of the rules are just ridiculous and the variations of words like there and their! Debbie
I always wanted to learn another language. I bought a tape to learn French and learned a few words. I helped my son with his Spanish and seemed to catch on faster than he did while going to class every day. But without immersion it did not stick. I, too, congratulate you!
...you do pretty well with it though! Reading through the A-Z posts I'm often find myself in awe of the use of English in a piece, only to discover it's written by someone to whom English is a second language.
I admire anyone who is bilingual or multilingual, and I think we should all be taught at least one more language in school. In this country Spanish would be a natural choice since the Hispanic population is ever-increasing. However what is learned in school is far different from conversational English in the home, and that's what we really need to learn to communicate. Do you speak any languages other than Japanese and English?

Nor is it mine! #BilingualHiFive
ReplyDeleteInteresting! As someone who is sadly, frustratingly monolingual, I am in awe of people who are fluent in more than one language. Kudos!

English is my native language, and sadly, I've forgotten most of what little bit of Italian and American Sign Language I learned a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteWonderful theme, by the way.
